Hackers are not informatic pirates

SUMMARY

The creator of the free software movement, Richard Stallman, was defined more than once as a hacker. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, creators of Apple, began as hackers. Tim Berners-Lee, one of the fathers of Internet, began opening computers at the University of Oxford. Some even claim that Bill Gates made his first steps in hacking when he was young. As for the new dictionary of the Real Academia Española (RAE) all are hackers.

Available in bookstores since last week, the new RAE's dictionary incorporates the word hacker. But his definition is as simply as: "Informatic pirate, a person with great skills in handling computers, using their knowledge to access systems or networks illegally outside translation".

Chema Alonso is a well known Spanish hacker around the world. He says: "A hacker has nothing to do with even a cybercriminal or hacktivist". Alonso has created a petition on Change.org to RAE for changing the definition of hacker.

CRITICS

In my opinion hackers are not always bad because it is known that a lot of people work in IT security and help other people preventing virus and malwares. As the news says, a lot of people start doing this and end setting up their own business. Then there is a part of these people who had a lot of luck and had also work very hard and now are ones of the most rich people in the world as Steve Jobs (RIP) and Bill Gates.

Another point is that this people are the ones who develop technology and creat new computers, smartphones, smartwatches and a lot of technology gadgets.
