A team of researchers has analyzed the extrem snowfall in March 2011 at Madrid. The results of it will help they to understand and predict similiar events in the future. The past 4 of march the exceptional snow wich has been acumulated for 24 hours caused many problems in the main access roads to Madrid and outages.
This week, the phenomenon has been repeated in other areas such the northern Soain and Baleares islands, where the snow level has fallen to sea level.Outside the region oof Madrid is more common to find this type of heavy snow.
A heavy snowfall can occur if a very humid air mass and relatively warm enters the Peninsula (usually west southwest wind) and superimposed above a mass of very cold and dry air (like a dry Siberian air mass ) present for several day. By studying the great snowfall of madrid allowed scientists to realize thissnowfall distribution in space and time, a very important role in improving predictions in the short and medium term analysis. The researchers say their study will help predict similar events in the future, but "it is necessary to study many other cases of snowstorms to evaluate whether the factors that influence their formation are the same or not.
Opinion
I think thats a great idea beacuse you can advert people that the day X is going to be a big snowfall so they can stay at home or buy things to be prepared. This is so helpful and i don't see any bad thing on it,.
